Preity's loud B'day party annoys neighbor

Bubbly gal Preity Zinta celebrated her 34th birthday on 31st January. She was in upbeat mood and enjoying the party in full swing when the Bandra police knocked her door. They arrived to attend the complaint lodged by Preity's neighbor for playing the speaker in high volume. The party went till the wee hours in the morning and the residents of the slum areas got disturbed with the loud noise. At first the police did not respond to their complaint as it was against top class people but on repeated calls they finally had to attend their problem.

A local resident, Irfan Shaikh said that very loud music was played in the party which lingered till the wee hours of Sunday morning. "Whenever there is music or program in the slum areas, these people in big buildings complain against us and we have to shell out large fines. We also get disturbed and so we complained to the police," he told.

But Preity remained unperturbed. She was least cared and did not respond to the call of the police. Shaikh informed that soon after the police left, the volume was again raised. It is very well known that Preity's birthday bash is attended by Bollywood bigwigs like Shahrukh Khan, Farah Khan, Chunky Pandey and others.

Preity Zinta adopts 34 orphans

Bollywood pretty gal Preity Zinta who is known for her outspoken nature also carries a heart of gold. Though she is associated with few social organizations and donates money for charity very often, recently she has done a great humanitarian work by adopting 34 orphan girls from the Mother Miracle School in Hrishikesh during her 34th birthday.

Regarding the noble deeds that she has rendered, Preity said, "Yes. I have adopted them and will be completely looking after their education, food, clothes etc. It`s an amazing feeling to be part of their lives. I'm going to make it a point to visit them at least twice a year. They are my children, my responsibility now."

Preity at first decided to spend those big bucks on an imported car but later she changed her mindset and donated the money for a charitable cause. "The horrors of female foeticide and child abuse are not just headlines for me. These 34 girls are just the beginning, I am going to adopt a couple more on every birthday", adds Preity.

Adopting 34 orphans one at a time is not a matter of joke and Preity stands as an example for all. She truly deserves huge round of applause.

21 February 2008 (Sawf News) - The 33-year-old Bollywood star was at the IPL auction at Hilton Towers, Mumbai, February 20, to bid for her Mohali team. She secured a good combination of batsmen and bowlers that included Sri Lanka captain Mahela Jayawardene Sri Lankan wicket-keeper Kumar Sangakkara, Australian fast bowler Brett Lee and India's own Pathan.

What caught our attention was not the ease with which she and beau Ness Wadia spent Rs 40 crore during the auction but the fact that Preity looked stunning, dressed in a scarlet sleeveless scoop neckline dress that had diagonal pleating at the neck.

She wore a black patent leather belt with a matching broad buckle that accentuated her silhouette.

Her reddish brown razored hair appeared quite silky and complimented the light brown color of her eyes.

Zinta is looking in much better shape these days than during the KANK days. Admittedly, she never lost her style and good sartorial tastes.

Zinta and Wadia looked happy together and much in love. They get our vote for Bollywood's best unmarried couple - a delightful blend of beauty, style and sophistication.

Way to go Himachal girl!

Is Preity Zinta getting married to Ness Wadia?

Washington, August 18 (ANI): The latest gossip doing the rounds is that Bollywood actress Preity Zinta is set to tie the knot with Ness Wadia, the great grandson of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan.

The award winning Indian actress started dating Ness, son of Bombay Dyeing owners Nusli and Maureen Wadia, in February 2005, reports the Daily Times.

The couple's relationship went through a bad patch earlier this year aftter singer Suchitra Krishnamurthy blamed Preity for her divorce with Shekhar Kapur.

Krishnamurthy alleged that the actress was having an affair with her director husband.

The news of the wedding has come after several reports of cold vibes between Zinta and Wadia's mother Maureen had been circulated by the media. (ANI)

Preity is pretty high on Team Mohali

By indiabroadcast
Saturday Feb 23 2:40 AM
Mumbai: Preity Zinta is gearing up for the IPL almost as much as the cricketers are. The actress is more than happy with Team Mohali. In an interview with CNN-IBN Chief Entertainment Correspondent Rohit Khilnani, Preity said she is confident that Team Mohali will win the IPL matches.

Rohit Khilnani: Hi Preity, how are you doing?

Preity Zinta: I am doing very well. A little over-worked but very well. Thank you for having me for this interview.

Rohit Khilnani: Are you happy witth the team that you have managed to rope in?

Preity Zinta: Oh absolutely. I think that the only cricketer we missed out on was Harbhajan Singh. We tried very, very hard to get him, but Mumbai got him in the end. And he wanted to go into the Mumbai team as well I think. But since it was an open auction, we went for him. But besides that, we are very happy with our team. We wanted a team which would be balanced and a team that would be kings in their homeground.

Rohit Khilnani: Were you always interested in sports or was this a sudden interest?

Preity Zinta: I was always super interested in sports, but I don't know if I was super cricket interested. I used to only watch One-Day Internationals and that too finals. The most exciting used to be the India-Pakistan matches, so I have not really been such a great cricket fan, but I have been a huge sports fan.

Rohit Khilnani: Tell me, will Sreesanth be allowed to be himself or will he be asked to tone down a bit?

Preity Zinta: We love Sreesanth for who he is and he is going to be a very important part of the team. As long as he performs well, he can dance on one leg or scream at people. I have no problem with that.

Rohit Khilnani: You and Shah Rukh are great friends, but is this competition in any way?

Preity Zinta: Right now, we have to work together. What is going to happen in that field is the excellence of the team. Shah Rukh can't go and bat in there. Neither can Vijay Mallaya, nor Ness or me. The point is that we have to work together, but eventually, it is the team that has to perform.

Rohit Khilnani: When do you plan to announce your logo and team colours?

Preity Zinta: In a day or so.

Rohit Khilnani: Will Team Mohali win the Indian Premiere League?

Preity Zinta: Absolutely.

Preity plays a 'bad' actress in 'Last Lear'

Preity Zinta

Preity Zinta shares an identical predicament with Arshad Warsi - and both have to play 'bad' actors in their latest films. While in Anil Kapoor's production Shortcut Arshad plays a bad actor, in Rituparno Ghosh's Last Lear, Preity is cast as a bad actress. Doing Last Lear posed other problems for Preity. 'Suddenly Rituda asked me to stick on bindis that were almost as large as my face. Initially, I was most reluctant. But then I surrendered completely to his vision. I'm actually looking pretty in Last Lear,' Preity told IANS. Even the international critics have noticed. The reviews make a special mention of Preity. In its review, Variety wrote, 'It's an interesting paradox to watch a star like Preity deliver a good performance as a woman who's widely known as a bad thespian.' That isn't the only problem Preity had to face; she had a real problem on the sets of Jahnu Baruah's Har Pal. Pritam Chakraborty has done the music score. Every time someone mentioned his name, she thought they were calling out to her because Pritam is the name given to her by Bobby Deol. Har Pal has been one of Preity's toughest roles ever. But the role of the Punjabi NRI wife in Deepa Mehta's Heaven On Earth has been her toughest yet. She's still carrying the invisible wounds of the battered wife's character. The shooting was wrapped up Sunday.

Preity Zinta was in Kolkata Monday, 15 Oct 2007 to inaugurate a durga puja pandal. Seen here in a file photo Preity Zinta attends a Go Air event as their brand ambassador. Photo Credit: IANS

30 October 2007 (Sawf News) - We are sworn to mind our business and confine ourselves to what the stars want us to hear when they come courting the press to promote their films but just every now and then a doozy of a rumor falls into our laps.

This one involves rumblings of a certain off screen connection developing between Preity Zinta and her co-star Shiney Ahuja.

Pretty intriguing, wouldn't you say?

Our snoops on the sets of Jahnu Barua's film Har Pal tell us the two are quite a pair. Har pal inseparable. Yes, yes, just good friends and all that, but it seems Ms. Zinta loves popping into Shiney's make-up van as often as she can between shots.

Well, we guess that settles the age old question of "Your place or mine?" Clearly his. But his van?

No, nothing as juicy as catching anyone red handed, but certainly red faced. Seems Preity trooped into his van, robustly and with great familiarity only to realize he was not alone.

Embarrassed and struggling to cover up the true reason for her boisterous entrance, she fumbled with excuses and finally told him she was there to call him for their next shot together.

Well, unless Ms. Z has taken a pay cut and donned the cap of the Assistant Director it clearly wasn't her job to do so.

Which clearly means, she's a terrible liar or, and just as bad, so eager to be constantly in touch with him that she's taken to borrowing the duties of a stars' inferior, the crewmember.

What's next, Preity running around as his spot boy with Umbrella hovering over his shiny greatness?

Either way, the reasoning was as sheer as Mandakini's saree under a RK waterfall and it left Shiney stuttering for a response. He excused himself from his Filmi guests and went to the door to have a hushed word with her.

Unnaturally cheerful, she wished them all well and extricated herself as best as she could for her faux pas.

Shiney, ever the "gentleman", thought the best way to underplay the situation was to make light of it. He commented with a shake of the head and a well practiced sigh, the old Aunty just wouldn't leave him alone.

Yes, poor dear, sick of the harassment from his senior heroine, is he? So much so, he's signed on the dotted line to act in another film with her. Oh, but at least the chemistry boiling between them will have some relief what with the new script apparently an intimate look at the breakdown of a once loving marriage.

Funny, isn't it how art imitates life. Oh gosh, that isn't to suggest Shiney Ahuja, if rumors are to be believed, may be doing a lot more practical of a study of how to mess up a marriage.

And as far Ms. Zinta goes... Well last heard, she was still apparently very tight with Ness Wadia. Yes, the same Ness, she insisted to those around her she was settling down to marry.

Oh, but we never did get around to telling you about the night when a group of friends sat around at the wee hours of popular suburban Mumbai eatery talking love and marriage. The only one who seemed mum about the whole topic was a certain Mr. Wadia, despite the best efforts of Preity to get him to comment.

Preity Zinta: Coloring A Child’s Life

Preity Zinta

Preity Zinta has acquired some ‘art’titude. She has taken to wielding a paintbrush and matched strokes with Mumbai-based artist Gurcharan Singh for the cause of street children for the NGO Khushi.

“Painting is reminiscent of my school days in the hills of Simla, but this experience with Gurcharan Singh who incidentally hails from the hills like me transported me to another realm of creativity,” says the dimple-faced actress. “I am sure this piece of art will win many little hearts and make a difference to the lives of street children. ”

Unfortunately we did not see any artistic tendencies in Preity; However we did notice that she paints to match.

Preity Zinta and Isha Koppikar’s new found friendship

Jhanu Barua’s ‘Har Pal’ turned out to be a wonderful experience for Preity Zinta and Isha Koppikar, as both of them found a new friend in each other.  The film too portrays both of them as close friends on-screen.

During the shooting, Isha had problem in staying awake for her night schedules and it was Preity who offered to help Isha by keeping her awake while chatting with her. Both the actresses even shared their lunch boxes.

Isha says, “Preity is a very nice girl and she has a lot of masala for entertainment. We have decided that we will stay in touch even after the shooting is over.” As for Preity, she says that she would have married Isha if she was a boy.

On the last day of the shooting both the actresses hugged each other and exchanged gifts to say goodbye. Preity gifted her favorite Coco channel perfume to Isha. She believes Isha would always remember her because of this gift.

Preity Zinta to have her New Year bash in Phuket

She has just finished her shooting as a battered wife for Deepa Mehta’s ‘Heaven On Earth’ and now, actress Preity Zinta is off to Phuket, Thailand with her friends to welcome the new year.

Shooting for the film has drained Preity emotionally and she needs a break badly. “Deepa Mehta and ‘Heaven On Earth’ have proved eye openers for me. But the film was tough on me emotionally. In the month that I was in Toronto, I went out just twice and that too to maintain my sanity. I really need a break now,” says Preity.

Preity had only one release this year, “Jhoom Barabar Jhoom’ which bombed at the box-office. Preity will return from her vacation in the second week of January with a clear date diary.

“I haven’t said yes to any of the scripts I’ve heard. I’ll take a call when I return from my holiday. But yes, 2007 has been my year of unconventional films. So 2008 will probably be a year of hardcore masala movies,” adds the bubbly actress.

Preity Zinta whistles and cheers for SRK

Seems veiling is in for celebrities. Mallika Sherawat wore one last year to dodge the media when she was coming out of the airport in Mumbai from a foreign jaunt. Himesh Reshammiyan too very recently ditched his cap for a Burkha to get into Ajmer Sharif Durgah.

Now, it is pretty Preity Zinta who wore it on the Independence Day to slip unnoticed into Bandra cinema hall to whistle and cheer for SRK in ‘Chak De India’.

Preity tells the story, “I could have seen the movie in the safety and comfort of a multiplex, but to gauge the reaction of the audience, I had to sit among the masses. I went along with my mom and cousin, hidden in a burkha, and because nobody could see me, I was at my buoyant best!”

According to the vivacious actress, in her disguise, she was able to scream, whistle and cheer along with the audience for SRK and his team of women hockey players in the movie.
